My First Feature on The Huffington Post

by

How My Life Changed After My First Child

I’m so excited to have my first article publishedย on The Huffington Postย today!

I am a huge fan of The Huffington Post, and have read and shared more of their articles than I can count. It is a big milestone for me to be featured personally.

The piece,ย How My Life Changed After My First Child, was inspired by a very simple yet complex question my preschooler recently asked me:

Mommy, did things change for you when I came out of your tummy?

I would love if you would check out the article and read more. Let me know what you think, and feel free to like, comment, or share if you enjoy it. ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh my goodness. I had chills and tears while I read your article. Your writing style is beautiful and so heartfelt. I loved the line, “How my rock-solid professional confidence had been shaken to its core by this little person who couldn’t care less about my credentials.” My husband and I don’t feel child-ready yet, but it’s so comforting to me to read that all moms have to overcome the feeling of inadequacy. Your son sounds like a wonderful person, no doubt thanks to you. Congrats on being featured on Huffington, and thanks for sharing such a personal piece.

Thank you so much Cortney for your very kind words! I relate about not being child ready as we weren’t ready until very late in the game (in fact I had my own serious doubts even as we were on the way to the hospital to deliver!) But it turned out becoming the most wonderful experience of my life (times three lol)! I wish you and your husband all the best.

What a beautiful debut! They really do change everything <3. I remember obsessing over tracking poop patterns and eating habits too. Writing down intake to the last mL. Lol.

I also had babies in the NICU, so I appreciate reading the words of a fellow NICU mama ๐Ÿ™‚ Glad your little guy is ok!

Thank you so much, Sam! YES – obsessing about everything (and now going through it again, to a much lesser degree, with my third.)

Loved the article. Particularly the call back to the present from your son “Are you listening to my words?” What a path his question sent you on!

      February 23, 2016 at 9:50 pm

Yes! He obviously didn’t mean it in this way, but it was such a profound question. I’m glad he asked it!
