I’m excited to have two new features posted on Scary Mommy this week!
The first, 10 Things Not to Say to a Woman Pregnant with Her Third Son, is my ode to well-wishers (or maybe not?) everywhere who don’t know quite what to say when they hear that a mother is expecting not her first, not her second, but her third boy.
The second, 7 Things to Appreciate About Being of Advanced Maternal Age, lay out the reasons I actually enjoy being a mother of advanced maternal age – despite the risks and the often touted negatives.
I would love if you would check out the pieces and share or comment!

How cool! Love these both!!
Thanks, Shannon!!
How exciting! You are on a roll!!
Thank you so much, Angela!
Wow! TWO pieces on Scary Mommy! Rock on, girl!
Thanks, Brittany!!
I enjoyed both articles immensely. I am a mum of 4 delightful boys and … a gorgeous daughter! My daughter is my 2nd child. When I had my younger sons with my 2nd husband – he is eldest of 3 boys himself – I had many people approach me saying about trying for a girl but I am more than happy with my boys.
The other article was appropriate too – I was classed an older mum at 26 when I had my first! I have been pregnant in my 20s, 30s & 40s – I was healthier with my pregnancies & childbirth in my 40s than I ever was in my 20s/30s. I fell quicker naturally in my 40s too – my younger two are just 16 months apart in age! 😊 And no, I have no intention of finding out what motherhood is like in my 50s! 😜
Oh wow – 5 beautiful children – that’s so awesome! I agree – we would have been thrilled with either gender – it’s a blessing no matter what! And that’s so cool that you’ve experienced pregnancy in your 20s, 30s, and 40s! Interesting to hear that you were healthier in your 40s as I feel healthier than I was in my 20s as well.
WOW! Do people really say those things to expecting mothers? Isn’t a simple congrats enough?
I agree! I can’t imagine saying these things to another woman.
Congratulations on your features – off to read!
Thank you!!
Two in the same week!! Wow! Well done!
Thank you, Liv!

Thanks Aileen!
